Spearfishing near Squaw Lake

Join us for some spear fishing taught and led by Hank Hortenstine at Squaw Lake and some water fun if you don’t have school or some other obligation! Meet at Stoneridge Church parking lot at 0930 on Tuesday, 29 Aug to depart. Pickup will be at the same location on Tuesday, at 1430. If you want to meet us out there later in the morning, you’re welcome to join us near Squaw Lake. Call 928-287-3708 for location.

We will learn how to spear-fish, do some cliff-jumping, swimming, and paddle-boarding.

We will provide a lunch on Saturday. If you want any other snacks, feel free to bring them.

Gear list:

At least 1 gallon of water per person

swim wear

Mask, fins, snorkel if you have them. If not, you can borrow some.

Outer wear (including hat/Sunglasses)

Sun-block / hat

All must have the requisite fishing license. You can purhase on-line at the following web-site. (May consider buying the combo if you want to go dove hunting in a couple weeks!)

*Expect about 20 minute sessions with Hank as he teaches. Remember, the spearguns will be treated as a firearm, so Hank will be working directly with one individual at a time.

* The fish you can shoot and eat are: Tilapia, Striped bass, and Carp. You can shoot Gizzard shad, but wouldn’t eat.

*The fish you cannot shoot are Largemouth bass and Bluegill/sunfish.
